It all began in Oswestry with our founder, Thomas Whitfield. Originally trading under Whitfield and Sons, we soon became one of the leading firms of Auctioneers and Valuers across the West Midlands and North Wales.
W. A. Bowen joined the firm, bringing with him a passion for delivering first-class customer service that still runs through our company to this day.
Bowen soon became the sole proprietor, but had to put his aspirations on hold after joining The Admiralty shortly after the outbreak of World War II.
During the war, K. Hugh Dodd was invaluable in keeping our business alive. Shortly after Bowen’s return, he became a partner and we traded under the new name of K. Hugh Dodd & Bowen.
Dodd retired and Bowen was joined by his two sons, Ted and Bill, along with Jack Watson. All three were made partners and we became known as Bowen Son and Watson.
Jack Watson’s son-in-law, Roy Jones, was a core member of our team for 32 long years. After Jack retired, Roy took over as a proud partner.
Carrying on the family trade, Eddie Bowen joined the team as the third generation of Bowens dedicated to upholding our values.
Our first venture into North Wales, James Sumner joined the family as we opened the doors to our new Wrexham office.
We further expanded our property services in North Wales with a new base in the beautiful town of Llangollen.
Bowen Son and Watson officially merged with Kent Jones, combining our experience and expertise to deliver outstanding services to the property owners of Wrexham.
Jonathan Bevan joined our team as an equity partner and was shortly followed by Andy Brown, bringing in the next generation of property experts.
Trading simply as Bowen, our new name reflects who we are; a team dedicated to simplifying the world of property and making it accessible to all. Bowen is for everyone and every property.
